Maureen Paley is please to present a new performance by London based artists Lucy Beech and Edward Thomasson.
Lucy Beech and Edward Thomasson have collaborated on performance projects since 2007. Their work is characterised by choreographed group activities that look at how movement is used when language fails or seems hard to summon. Their new work for the gallery sees a group of performers playing movement based games in an attempt to negotiate collective feelings of social discomfort. This work continues Beech and Thomasson’s investigation into how double standards are performed and upheld collectively.
Lucy Beech (1985, Hull) and Edward Thomasson (1985, Stoke-On-Trent) live and work in London. Recent presentations include Site Gallery, Sheffield, 2016; Frieze Live, Frieze London, 2015; Camden Arts Centre, London, 2014; Yepi Kredi Culture Centre, Istanbul, 2013; OUTPOST, Norwich and 2nd Biennale de Belleville, Paris; South London Gallery, 2012; Barbican Theatre, London; Bloomsbury Theatre, London, 2011 and Modern Art Oxford, 2010.
