For her second solo exhibition at Maureen Paley, Warren takes SHE, the novel of 1887 by Rider Haggard (and later a Hammer Studios film) as a loose source of inspiration. SHE is a forever-youthful, idealised beauty. Her dominance is unquestionable and her vengeance monstrous.
SHE represents an archetypal female: one that holds a terrifying fascination for men. In Warren’s show Ursula Andress is long gone. In her place a group of impressively dissolute figures – ragged, chaotic and inchoate.
